Timeline   After Jared's beating
Marie stretched and arched her back as she climbed off the last rung of the ladder. She worked her knuckles into the small of her back. Damn all Klingons and those hard metal planks they call beds.

Halfway down the corridor she noticed that the door to the quarters she shared with Jared and YIghegh was hanging open. She slowed, walking carefully, fearful of what she might find inside. It was a dreadful mess – she could see that much even standing out in the corridor in front of the door. Personal possessions were scattered everywhere as if a mini tornado had struck.

She heard running footsteps. YIghegh called from further down the corridor, “GhumHmoH! Ro’ ‘Iw Sam!” [Lookout! Ro’s looking for blood!]

He was gone again before she could ask any more. Marie turned back to the room. There was a faint hint of something coming from it. Soup? Alcohol?

Definitely alcohol. So...it was her blood Matlh was after. She spun on her heels and sped off up the corridor. Behind her she heard boots emerging from her quarters. They definitely were not Jared’s. Fear and adrenaline gave her feet wings. What have I done this time? I’d’ve thought that bit of rescuing back on Ubatti might’ve stood me in the good books a bit longer than this!

The boots were gaining on her. Matlh might be drunk but he was still a Klingon and a fit one at that. Also, he had a much longer stride than her. Where to run to? I’ve got more than one bolt hole but they rely on having enough warning to get to one without being seen. Maybe if I can keep going long enough the alcohol will overcome him and he’ll collapse. She knew it was a futile wish.

As she reached sick bay she saw Hay'legh step out behind her. She didn't wait to see the outcome, but threw herself onto the ladder and slid down. When she reached teh Hold she could no longer hear pursuit. She didn't wait around to see why but ran for her nearest "Safe" point.
