Timeline   During the funeral
TorvaD stormed in through the main doors of the forecourt. He bellowed for his Security Chief, "Thor'nan!"

Thor'nan of the House of Mal'kor, never very far from his employer, walked through the doorway. He didn't speak, for TorvaD wasn't worth talking to. If not for the money he paid for Thor'nan's services, the Klingon raised human would have castrated the pompous fool months ago. He knew that TorvaD was planning to kill him one day, just for being who he was. He was racist, overbearing, and, in human terms, a four star horse's ass. But he was wealthy, and he paid his guardians well. The latinum Thor'nan was being paid would one day buy a ship and a piece of land on a Klingon colony where he could settle down with his wife and two sons, hunt, farm, and regale his neigbors of his prowess in battle in the Klingon fleet.

TorvaD sneered at the Human. The idea of a Human passing himself off as Klingon was offensive in the extreme. Q'onos for Klingons!

Still the Human was unarguably capable. One day TorvaD would make sure he met his death for the insult his existance made, but for now...

"Thor'nan, the half-breed has come to perform some un-holy human ritual over the decay of her father's body. It should have been thrown in the garbage, but apparently it was not. It is possible that this bastard child will coming seeking blood from me. I have no intention of dirtying my hands with her alien infested blood. What is the status of our defences?"

"They are as ready as they can be. I've inspected the walls, and posted guards on all the access points. They'll need a small army to breach the gates. " said Thor'nan.

"She is working for House Matlh. THey have an army, and it is not a small one. Double the guard and check the shield generators. Until their ship leaves the surface, I am accepting no guests. Clear?"

"Yes, My Lord. " said Thor'nan, barely keeping the sarcasm out of his words. He despised the fool.

Torvad moved off scowling. He was replaced a moment later by one of Thor'nan's junior warriors, "Orders, sir?"

"I want a roving patrol outside the walls. Post guards on the walls, another six in the courtyard. I want our four best men on the front gate. Also, have Lord TorvaD's shuttle on the launch pad with a pilot. " said Thor'nan.

"Will you be accompanying him? " asked Lach, the warrior who Thor'nan had come to rely on very heavily over the past months.

"No. I can barely tolerate the fool in his castle; what do you think would happen if I were confined to a shuttle or Bird of Prey with him? " asked Thor'nan. Lach laughed and clapped Thor'nan on the shoulder. Though the two weren't close, they got along well. Neither loved TorvaD.

"Shuttle to the roof, six to the Courtyard, four on the gate, roving patrol. Understood. What of the Bregit trader due this afternoon? TorvaD will not like being deprived of his favoured delicacy."

"Get the stuff outside the walls and bring it inside. Scan it for poison, and feed some of it to TorvaD's targ. If it doesn't kill the thing, then feed out esteemed employer the rest. " said Thor'nan.
