Marie sauntered up to the Bregit trader with a insouciant smile on her face. "Well if it isn't nIH'wI," she said as if she'd known him all her life. "I have a nice lot of Mal'kor DebngejwI' and I hear you have a client who's rather partial to the stuff. I'd like you to help me move it. Only trouble is, I need to move it fast. Today would be good. I'm prepared to pay above your usual fee if you can assist."

The thin Klingon turned and sniffed at Marie, "Let me guess, you have a few old desiccated stock that are long dead that you bought by mistake?"

"What do you take me for? What self-respecting Klingon would eat dried up food! Certainly not TorvaD if he really does pay the prices for Mal'kor DebngejwI' that rumour suggests. No, our pretty engineer is currently incubating a batch. If we move fast, TorvaD gets them fresh out of her skin."

His eyes flashed, "Really? Your Engineer? And they are ripening? I don't envy her, but I might just have a..."

He straightened suddenly, "Wait a minute. Is this about Jare again? TorvaD does like his delicacies but if you are planning on posioning him off to get your hands on Jare's estate, you might as well give up. TorvaD has had plenty of experience with antidotes."

"So that's what his name was. The snivelling little half-breed daughter hasn't stopped blubbering over him. Yeah, she swore revenge and she might actually get around to it if she could stop feeling sorry for herself for two seconds. No-one on the ship is interested. In fact, I think Ro' has had so much of her that he's about to throw her of. She'll be no great loss. Actually, if she does get kicked off, I might just lower my price as a favour to TorvaD for doing us all a favour.

"No, this is purely a business transaction. I happen to have a batch of Mal'kor DebngejwI' and you happen to have a customer; fortuitous circumstance and one that benefits you and me both. Think about it.... How long do Mal'kor DebngejwI' take to incubate? Now, when was this Jare killed? There's no way I could have arranged this unless I knew Jare was going to be killed. If that was the case then I'd have had to have been in on the kill. So I'm hardly going to do TorvaD in, assuming it was in fact him who organised the assassination – and I've seen no evidence to that effect. Like I said, he did us all a favour."

"Well, provided I get my payment before you do anything stupid I am happy. Have your Engnieer meet me at the top of High Street at 3:15. Don't be late."

"We'll be there. Just to warn you, I'll be bringing a couple of Klingons with me. Just a precaution, you understand. I don't want the engineer stolen out from under me while I'm on my way up to the High Street. You must admit that this place doesn't have the greatest security record." She winked then turned to walk out. "Oh and, I'm no expert on this," she added over her shoulder, "but I don't see how I can poison TorvaD if he eats the things straight out of the engineer's skin. I'd have to poison her to get the poison into the spiders. I think that might be a bit obvious to someone of even TorvaD's limited intelligence."

nIH'wI shrugged, "Now what about you? Still can't intrest you in some prime breggit to restock the FHew?"
