Thor'nan sat in the small chair and looked at the image of his wife and two sons. His wife, Karina, was Orion; a 'gift' from his family. She had been found adrift in an abandoned Ferengi cargo vessel, and his father had brought her home to serve the family. The two of them had fallen in love. On his Day of Ascension, Mal'Kor had given her to him. Thor'nan had married her. Since then she had borne him two sons, Tierk and Korhal. Tierk looked like his father; pale skin, blonde hair, and strong. But he had his mother's piercing green eyes. Korhal, on the other hand, had his mother's green skin and red hair. But the boy was a fierce fighter. He'd inherited his father's temper. They were with his family in the capital city. He looked over his meager quarters; he had decided that once this spat with his employer's enemies was done, he'd take some badly needed time off and see his family. His eyes fell on his honor display. Bat'leth, the dk'tahg he'd been given at his manhood ceremony, and the weapons he was best with; twin mek'leth. He decided to call home.

Karina answered. She smiled at the sight of her husband on the other end.

"THor'nan. How are you, madja? " she asked. Madja was an Orion term of endearment, meaning sweetheart.

"My lady. I am well, although Lord TorvaD is very....tiresome. " he said.

"But he pays well. Enough so that one day you can find a place for us to call our own. " said Karina.

"I know. I want the boys to grow up away from the city, away from the politics and simpering fools who run the Empire. " said Thor'nan.

"I too. " she said.

"My parents? " he asked.

"They are well. Your father is driving your mother crazy. Retirement doesn't suit him. " said Karina.

"And the children?" asked Thor'nan.

"As always, remind me more of you every day. " said Karina.

Suddenly, an alarm rang out. Thor'nan looked at her.

"I have to go, my love. I'll contact you later. " he said. She nodded as he terminated the link and ran to his weapons. He had to get TorvaD out of there fast.
