Darkness Dawning – Leap into the dark

Time had stretched. For the FHew it had been fifteen seconds, but for Ro', May'bel and Jared, running at the front of the distortion wave, it seemed more like half an hour. Now, though, they ran out of places to run. The long corridor that ran the length of the Nihlus ship ended in a small observation deck with a view port facing forward. Ro' all but slid to a stop, turning and looking behind him. They had not seen a scarab for some time, as more and more of them had rushed towards the strange arching purple energy maelstrom behind.
Even now the thin wisps of purple energy were lapping at the heels of May'bel as he slid to a stop beside the Captain and the dexterous Vetus. The three stood there and watched in silence. There was nothing left to say. In the end even the cunning Jared and mighty Ro' had been unable to outrun death.
Ro' looked out the front view screen again and gave a slight chuckle, "You know. I think I can almost see the gates of Sto Vo Kor already."
May'bel looked and grunted, "I too."
Jared glanced and a puzzled look washed over his face, "Um... Do Vetus go to Sto Vo Kor?"
May'bel was looking hard at the apparition out of the view port, "And does it look like the back of a B'rel?"
Ro' gave a sudden roar of joy. Sitting in front of the Nhilus ship was the FHew, her rear bay doors open and facing them. Ro' levelled his tortured disruptor at the view screen and fired. The clear panel evaporated and everything in the room was sucked into vacuum and hurled at speed towards the waiting warmth of the FHew.
