Ro' had been in a dark mood ever since the killing of the clones. No one had discussed it with him, but it was bringing the whole ship down.

They were on a routine patrol of the Federation/Gorn boarder when they were hailed by Starfleet. Ro' took it in his room, but when he came back he was smiling. He came to the centre of the bridge and hit the comms.

"All senior crew to the bridge."

He waited for those in the more remote parts of the ship to gather, somewhat crowding the small control room.

"It seems my crew have made an impression," Ro' beamed. "Many of you will remember the training exercise we did with some Starfleet recruits from the USS Propsero earlier this year. Those same Cadets are reaching their graduation. They have to complete a combat simulation as part of their final assessment. They have asked that we be the ship they fight against."

Germite piped up, "Did they not learn enough from our last encounter." He looked over at Tell, "Maybe they need another lesson in Klingon Medicine."

Ro' actually laughed at that, "We'll tray and void having you do any holo-surgery on Tell this time. The USS Prospero is due to meet us at Starbase 48 around Cestus III tomorrow. Both ships will take on a SF observer and we will be modifying our shields and weapons to simulate damage only. The FHew will begin a mock patrol and the Prospero will engage us. This is a Ship vs Ship engagement only. No boarding parties. First ship rendered destroyed looses."

"Sounds like another Kobyashi Maru for those poor bastards," Bruce offered. "They've got as much hope as an amputee against an emu in a kicking contest."

"Well they may as well surrender now," said Tell "I'm all for winning, they won't know what hit them when we have finished."

“Are we allowed to use our Lyan weapon on them?” Marie asked hopefully, “or would that be cheating.” She looked across at Tell. “I suppose the ‘rules’ state Starfleet regulation weapons only.

"I would rather keep our Lyann surprise a secret for now," Ro' admitted. "There may come a day when we need to use it against a Federation vessel, but I trust it will not be required to defeat a group of recruits in a war game."

"That being said, their ship is bigger than ours and heavily armed and armoured. We will not be able to perform a full frontal strike. I will need some tactics from all departments and options by the time the cadets arrive tomorrow."

“How about we use the ‘Picard Manoeuvre’?” Marie suggested. “We’d have to compensate for localised gaseous compression by venting some of our own but that is achievable.”
