Timeline   Shortly after the officers' meeting
Beq Ru'fimohp stomped intot he Mess hall and up to the food counter. With HoS gone, people were serving themselves whatever they could be bothered preparing. He grabbed a handfull of limp Gagh and dropped it into a bowl. Stomping back over to a table with the other marines h dropped into a seat and stuck some of the worms into his mouth. He immediately spat it out.

"Pah! SoDqoqvam yInbe'puS SoDqoqvam yInlaw'. ghoD'e' wIb!" [This food is more dead than alive. It is off]

'Iw'a'na' nodded but replied in English as per Ro's standing orders in the presence of Humans, "It's the water reclaimater. It is not designed to handle this many people. It is probably broken down again."

"tI'moHlu'," Ru'fimohp growled threateningly. [Then someone should FIX it]

"Fix it yourself," 'Iw'a'na' responded.

"jIH'a'? Niuq Human'Hom DIghajmeH?" Ru'fimohp thrust his bowl asside. It slid off the table and clattered against the wall where the Gagh tried weakly to struggle free. [Me? Isn't that what we have the Human'Hom for?]

'Iw'a'na' glanced at the other table in the Mess hall where Tell and Marla were sitting, obviously hearing every word.

"You know every Beq on a B'rel is expected to pitch in where needed. You want it fixed, you fix it."

"Not every B'rel is stuffed with Humans, who waste all the water bathing!" Ru'fimohp vented, falling into English at last, but ignoring the warning glances from his comrade.

Marla sneered. Her Human half was telling her to ignore it, but her Klingon half was awaiting a battle. Marla glanced at Tell. She looked like she was about to explode, and if that happened Marla's Klingon half would get her battle.

Tell had finished her meal and pushed the plate to one side. She glanced over at the loud mouthed, long haired Beq. If he wanted a fight he would get one and she would take a section of his hair as a trophy and feed it to her engine. She stared at Marla and knew that the Klingon in her was begging for a brawl. She stood up her hands were itching to release the knives from her wrists.

She hurled a Klingon insult at him, "QoH! bIQ DaSovlaHbe'chugh bIQ'e' DughosDaq 'ej nIHmIn HoH" [Idiot! You wouldn't know what water was even if it came up to you and took out your right eye.]

"ToH! The Hom is trying to talk properly," Ru'fimohp turned slowly, seeing Tell, "Do you think that makes you a warrior? My targ can fight better than you, and he doesn't need a giant metal battle suit to do it."

He moved over to the officers table. 'Iw'a'na' and Cha'a' galnced at each other then at Marla and YIghegh who were at Tell's table. Technically this was straight insubordination, to be dealt with by the officer in question, but it was also a Marine vs Crew issue and it was not clear how it would go down.

Ru'fimohp stood near Tell, hand son his hips in a threatening manner, "Why don't you go and do as you told, before you hurt yourself pretending to be a worth while member of this crew?"

A furious engineer rose herself to her full height and looked him squarely in the eye. What happened next was so incredibly fast that at first no one saw what had happened. No one was bleeding for a start but as the Klingon moved his head a side lock of six inches of wavy hair glided to the floor. "If its a fight you want Beq then a fight you will get. " She spat out venomously. "And if I have to take you one piece at a time so be it. So c'mon" Tell kept her voice low and threatening. Then waved him towards her with her hand. "Show me what you have got"

Ru'fimohp watched the hair fall to the ground and bellowed in rage and frustration. He swung a wild slow punch which Tell doged easily. Tell knew that in these fights there was still an etiquite. She should not cut the Klingon unless she planned to kill him. She dove in under his swing and jabbed her fingers into his kidneys the way Ro' had showed her.

Marla smiled as the fight started. Now she could get in to it. She would protect her friend. Even though at this point it seemed that Tell did not need any help, she would help anyway. She jumped up, and ran over to join the fight.

"You will learn to respect humans, Beq! They might not be Klingon, but they seem to be pretty good in a fight!

'Iw'a'na' and Cha'a' rose from their chairs, "Now, Lagh, this is between the two of them. Let's not all get involved."

YIghegh appeared at Marla's shoulder, facing the other two. "Your call, sir," he growled.

A smirk appeared at the corners of Tells mouth as she launched herself at her would be attacker. She was going to enjoy this.

Ru'fimohp was more careful with his second attack, sending a short jab at head height. Tell was able to dodge the swing but there was no obvious opening for her to strike. Her opponent was bigger, tougher and stronger than her. She had speed and agility on her side, and the other was likely to tire before she. Also, he would fight fair.

He swung again and Tell dodged back but then leapt forward, fiegned a blow which he dodged, and moved behind him where he would not be expecting an attack. She pushed at his back, catching him enough to stagger forward but not loose his balance. It had angered him though.

Ru'fimohp put his arms out and charged the engineer, hoping to catch her in a bear hug and break her ribs. It was a common move and Ro' had taught her a counter to it. Dropping at the last second, Tell dove at Ru'fimohp's legs and he found himself falling forward. He managed to catchhimself to break his fall, but he was encumbered by his size and armour weight when trying to rise. By the time he was on he knees Tell was standing and swung a kick at his face. Her foot connected with a crack, but Ru'fimohp had time to lower his forehead and Tell did as much damage to her foot as she did to him.

The pair rose and faced off again.

Marla looked toward the two next to her, "Can I join in now?"

'Iw'a'na' and Cha'a' knew enough about human sarcasm to detect Marla's tone and braced themselves for her attack. YIghegh dove at 'Iw'a'na' and gripped him around the waist, carrying him by force into the table behind him, but the Marine kept his footing and brought his too arms down in a sickening blow on the crewman's back that dropped him to his knees. Marla grabbed at Cha'a' who moved her pose to catch the Half-human in a wrestling pose. Marla drove her forehead forward, catching the other on the forehead with the regular sickening hollow crunch. Cha'a' returned the blow one for one.

Marla took a firm step forward. She grabbed Ch'a's head firmly in her hand, and moved it down toward where her knee was coming up. She then rammed her knee into Ch'a's skull.

This took Ch'a' completely by surprise. Marla knew the blow was not hard enough to knock Cha'a down, but she went down anyway, and had the good sense to stay down. YIghegh however was not so lucky. 'Iw'a'na' smshed his back down then brought his own knee up winding the Bea before laying him out with a double fisted swing. Now Marla and 'Iw'a'na' faced off.

Tell swore under her breath as the pain hit her. She kept her face firmly on her opposition and tried not to show any weakness, if she did then she would be bounced from bulkhead to bulkhead. She let lose some fruitful curses and another blade flew from her wrist taking off another section of the Klingons hair. Then with incredible speed spun her self round and kicked out at the Jaw of the insolent Beq. There was a shattering clamour as he hit the bulk head and slid down it. He was down but he was not out. Slowly like a shaggy dog he shook him self and got up. Blood oozed from the corner of his mouth. Pieces of his hair were scattered all over the floor as he raised himself to full height...

... and stalked out of the mess hall. 'Iw'a'na' dropped his guard and went to pick up Cha'a'. The fight was over and Tell had reestablished her place.

Marla walked over to check on Tell. Marla was happy. She had been in a fight, and won it too. She would be happy for a few hours, until her Klingon blood longed for another battle.

"How are you doing, Tell?"

Tell winced a little and tried to keep upright. Never had she enjoyed a fight so much as this one. Despite the pain she felt good and a little high. Ro' had taught her well. "Please don't make this to obvious Marla." she whispered to her friend. "But do you think you could give me a hand to sickbay? I think I might have broken my ankle and rattled a few ribs."

"Sure, we can make it look like we have had a little too much to drink! Stumble around a little, I'll have my arm around you to keep you up, and we can walk to sickbay singing songs! What do you think?"

Tell forced a laugh, she really liked Marla, she had a great sense of humour. She was a good friend and someone Tell knew she could trust.

"You start then." she replied wincing as pain shot through her foot Tell leaned on her friend "And I'll join in"

Marla put her arm around her friend, holding her up as they headed toward sickbay. They were beaten, bloody, but they were happy. Marla started to sing, and Tell soon joined in.

"Oh, our honor was defended, and the battle we have won.
To fight again would be great, and would be so much fun."
