Tell slid down the ladder to the lower deck. The damn relays were at their weakest here and she knew it was where she was going to be needed even before the orange lights began to turn red.

The weapons fire from the battle shook the ship, unsettling the antimatter flow. Power levels were fluctuating no matter what adaptations she and the Borg modified engine tried. An alarm sounded on one of the upper decks.

"Just wait your turn," Tell barked at it angrily.

She flipped the last of the relays to gain another three, maybe two and a half minutes, and scooted back up the ladder to the alarm. As she reached for it the entire panel exploded in a shower of smoke and sparks.

Tell fell on her back winded and blinded by the flashing light. The tone of the alarm had changed and she was aware of other noises.

"We are loosing it!" said a voice.

"Who are you and where am I?" she mumbled. Something inside Tell told her that she wasn't on the FHew any more. Either that or she was more injured than she thought. Yes that's what it was; concussion can do that.

Rolling to her side and blinking through the haze she could make out figures. They seemed to be moving around, but it was hard to make them out. One moved to her and resolved into a Vulcan in Starfleet yellow. With one hand he gripped her and pulled her to her feet.

"We have stabilised the flow, Commander, but you are right about the relays. We are going to loose the whole of Section 5."

It took Tell a moment to realise that he was talking to her, and that the Engineering bay she was in was not the FHew. It was much larger and looked Federation in design.

Tell felt the urge to straighten her uniform, she never had to do that before. She pushed some stray hairs from her face and tucked them behind her ears as she took in her surroundings. Something about this wasn't right.

"Where's the FHew?" she asked "I'm supposed to be on the FHew."

She reached her hand up and caught at the wisps of hair again. They were white to the point of silver, and her hand was wrinkled and blotched. Her voice had a crackle in it that hadn't been there before and she felt stiff.

The Vulcan raised an eyebrow, "The far-cue, Commander?"

"I thought... I was on another ship called the IKC FHew, Chief Engineer, demoted from... from." Even now as she said the name of the ship it seemed to become a distant memory and she struggled to hold onto it. What was she doing here? The Vulcan seemed to look concerned as much as a Vulcan could do. "I must have really hit my head because I'm not sure I know where I am." she told him.

The Vulcan Gave her head a quick look then nodded to himself, "I think we are done here anyway."

This was the engine room Tell was certain of that but unlike no engine room she had ever seen before. It was clean for once and the lights worked. There was something about the lights that annoyed her, one of the lights never worked and always... what was it?

The Vlucan's voice boomed in her ear, "Alright people, let's use the time to get to safety. Junior personnel first. Department heads last. Tracey, Joel, help the Commander."

Younger hands gripped Tell and began to lead her out of the engine room and into a corridor beyond. An alarm was sounding and a computer voice could be heard.

- Chroniton flux rising. Complete dispersal in three minutes. -

Chroniton flux what the hell was that? Tell was led down a corridor that she didn't recognise while all thoughts of the FHew began to fade as if in a dream and all that mattered was the here and now. She tried desperately to cling to faces that were drifting away from her. They meant something to her but she couldn't remember why.

Her comm pin chirupped, "Commander Hope to Operations. The captain wants to see you."

"I suppose I'm on my way." she replied rubbing her head in confusion. Perhaps then she'll find out what was really going on here and string up those responsible for it.

"This way, Commander," one of the people with her said, leading her down a separate section. "We can't risk the lifts. We will have to go on foot if you are up to it?"

"Up for it? I can run rings around you any day," she boasted. "Lead on."

Tell held up her hand indicating for him to lead the way. The hand she saw wasn't hers, it belonged to someone else, someone old... really old. She shook her hand as if to get rid of it but all it did was bring on an ache that she hadn't experienced before.

"Something wrong with your hand Commander?" as voice she didn't recognise asked her.

"No nothing" Tell snapped. Except it's not mine she thought and if its not mine then whose is it.

Before long she was struggling to breathe but to stubborn to admit it. Finally she had to signal for a rest. The one of the people she was with glanced over to a turbo lift where some medical team were bringing some injured.

"Looks like the lifts are working. Come on."
