There was just one thing that Tell really wanted to eat and that was cake. Simple, any cake would do, just so long as it was cake. She would then have cake with good double sweet, triple strong Trill coffee. The way she liked it.

She was in a generous mood and thought she would make a big enough cake for all of them to enjoy. Though the Klingons would wash it down with good blood wine, still there was taste and there was taste. Tell never did care for Klingon Blood wine but then again she never really cared for anything that had a tendency to move while you still ate it. Give her good food any time preferably dead and still.

The cake that she found in the database looked interesting enough and would sure to be a hit with everyone on board. She thought it was kind of Marie to leave one of the storage containers unlocked for her. She would have had a devil of a job otherwise. Besides Marie owed Tell for spacing a lot of her stuff in an escapade or two a while back. She wouldn’t miss it.
“Ok” said Tell to herself in the empty mess hall. “Where do we start?”

She read an entry in the data base for a cake, which said that the chef had, had many requests for this cake but was tired of typing it up every year. So she had asked everyone to keep it on their own data base from now on. (Made mine this morning!!!! Was her final remark.)

Tell began getting the ingredients together muttering to herself as she did so. She was so looking forward to this cake.
“Right I need...”

1 cup of sugar
1 teaspoon of baking powder
1 cup of water
1 teaspoon of salt
1 cup of brown sugar
Lemon juice
4 Large eggs
Nuts
2 cups of dried fruit
and 1bottle of Aldebran Whiskey. (Care of Marie)

Tell decided to have a drink of the Aldebran whiskey before she started, just to get her in the right mood.
“Oh right. It says here to sample a cup of Aldebran whiskey to check for quality. Done that but there is no harm in doing it again is there?”

“Good this stuff is God.” She said to no one in the room and then tried to refocus her eyes on the recipe again.

“Take a large bowl, check the Aldebran stuff again to be sure it is of the highest quality then repeat... repeat what? Oh... repeat.” The Chief Engineer of the Fhew then had another Aldebran wotsit. “Cheers”

Tell then turned on the electric mixer which she found at the back of a cupboard. “pfft didn’t know we had one of these.”

“Beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl and add one teaspoon of sugar and I am going to beat the hell out of it.”

Tell checked the Debran to make sure it was still ok because that’s what the song said and she had to try another cup just in case.

Right she turned off the mixerer thingy and broke the spirit of two eegs and added them to the bowl. She attempted to chuck in the cup of dried fruit in but it ended up on the floor. Tell picked it up off the floor, washed it and put it in the bowl a piece at a time. It seemed very important to count it.

She swayed slightly and held on to the work surface. Tell brushed invisible hair from her face smearing flour across both cheeks. “I can do this, it’s not diff... diff... hard at all.”

She mixed on the turner and read out loud. “If the druit getas stuck in the beaterers, pry it loose with a phaser drewscriver. Pfft I can do that. Test the whiskey for tonsisticity. I can do that too” She said

Next sift 2 cups of salt, or somefink. Check the whisky and shi* shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts. At this point Tell was laughing so much she almost passed out.

“Add one table and a spoonful of sugar or somfink.” Tell looked around to see what else she could find to add. She read through blur and double vision once more and was told to greash the oven.

She did have trouble however with turning the cake tin 360 degrees without falling over and forgot to beat off the turner. Finally she spaced the bowl in the nearest airlock and took off her boot to wipe down the counter.

After a job well done Tell finished the remaining Aldebran whiskey on the way back to her quarters whilst singing an old drinking song about whiskey in the jar-o.
