After the incident in the Mess hall Germite had returned to the infirmary. The samples of the insect creatures that they had gathered were in stasis but he was able to do some passive scans of his own on them.

He was so engrossed that at first he did not hear the Captain enter. He glanced up to see the old Klingon considering him.

"Fascinating, aren't they?" Ro' said. "They are unlike any other species in the galaxy. Very old too, possibly billions of years. It is hard to judge when they don't tell time in the same way we do."

Germite arched an eyebrow. That was a very philosophical thought to be coming from a Klingon warrior, but then Klingon poetry was very common. "Yes, they are. I would not have expected such a deep comment from a warrior such as yourself. Are you writing a Klingon Epic?"

Ro' smiled, "Oh I think you will find your captain is very capable of some depth if you give him space to. But I am not Ro' I am just using his form to move around the ship freely. I am E, your passenger, and an agent for the Corporation."

Germite gave E a double take. He stepped back as if E had a contagious disease. He looked around to see if there was any sort of weapon available. If this had been a Starfleet ship, he would have called security, but he didn't think it would do any good. The revelation of E as a shape shifter caused him concern. Was he a founder or some other shape shifting race? He wondered what E's purpose was in the infirmary. Germite had adapted his thinking and speaking to Klingon patterns. "What do you want?"

E smiled, "It is always that for you, isn't it, Germite? What do people want from you? What do you have to do next? Where is the cost? You are always someone's bond-servant. It gets tiring, doesn't it? I know because I am a bond-servant to the Corporation."

"But I am also, mildly telepathic and I know that it is a struggle for you. You want to let go of all of it, all the dark memories and life long debts. You have never quite come to terms with it all, have you?"

Germite nodded. "Sometimes I just want to get away." [Cue Cheers Theme song in the background]

E looked over her shoulder to see no one was listening from the corridor, "I can help. I have found a way out of my prison, and I can take you as well. Not for a life on the run, looking over your shoulder, but real freedom. I know that there is a person in there who is trapped and wants to be able to be himself again. You haven't heard from that person since the Bajoran war, but he's still there."

Germite longed for the freedom the E was describing. "In the war I had purpose. I knew what I was fighting for. Since then it's been like I've just drifted from one outfit to another. I don't think I could escape if I wanted to." He just didn't see a way to obtain that freedom, not without sacrificing his self respect.

E nodded, "I can help you. All you need to do is let me."
