HIchop finished his shift on the bridge and returned to his private quarters. The day had been long an uncomfortable and he was in a foul mood. He flung the door open and stomped heavily through. It took him a moment to realize he was not alone.

The figure of the blue corporate woman known as E was leaning against the far wall, with her hands folded in front of her, "I have been waiting a while for you to show up."

HIchop didn't even hesitate. He pulled his d'k'tagh and crossed the room in three long strides.

"Before you attack me, or kill me slowly, or any of the hundred other things that flash across your mind the instant you hear the word 'Incorporate' You need to realize that I am unarmed and making no hostile act. Killing me would be a very dishonourable act, and I know you are not a dishonourable person."

HIchop considered knifing her anyway. Ro' had said she was to be got to her destination alive. HE was pretty sure he said nothing about not bleeding. Then he hesitated. Germite was a good physician, but once HIchop started cutting he doubt he would leave enough for the medic to so back together.

Instead he grabbed her and with one arm launched her across the room, and out into the corridor. As she struggled back to her feet. HE crossed to her, bellowing loudly, "No private conversations and when you are in the brig I will sweep my room for bugging devices."

E sighed, "I am mildly telepathic, but I don't need that to tell me you hate us, and with a passion that I have seldom encountered in anyone. I will tell you that this is a disappointment to the Corporation."

HIchop landed a fist into the wall. The blow would have landed in E's face if she hadn't moved fast enough, and was hard enough to dent the hull plate on the inside. "And?"

E continued, "It is more than bad PR though. There is something persona... ah! It is your family."

HIchop glowered, "Your reading my mind. Stop or die!"

"You were originally House HIj, but they put you out to protect you. Oh, very clever. And you landed on your feet with House Matlh, no mistake."

HIchop stepped to her and placed his arm against her throat to break her larynx but she managed to squeak out, "I'm not reading. I have already seen. It is right there in the front of your mind."

Hichop released the pressure, but not the grip.

"You never told anyone, did you? You couldn't. It was the only way to avoid being caught in their debt to us. But you never forgot, and you never forgave."

"I have no debt," Hichop growled.

E tried not to smile, "Agreed, but maybe I have something that you will want to hear after all. PR is very important to us. Far more important than a minor debt. I can wipe it away, HIchop; clean the slate for them. I can even arrange for those who have been... relocated to be brought back. Would you like that."

HIchop dropped her to the floor, "Talk to them, not me. It is not my debt."

E tried to massage her bruised throat, "Think on it carefully, HIchop son of HIj. All of your family restored. The Corporates want to give this to YOU, not them, so that YOU will not think of us as such bad people."

"All you have to do is say you want it."
