Timeline   Nightfall after the away team's return
Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the ship
Not a creature was stirring, not even a Targ.
The mud camouflage was hung on the chimney with great care,
In knowledge that patrol ships soon would be here.

The crew were hunkered down, entrenched at their post,
While visions of bombings bothered them most.
And Tell in her overalls, and Ro’ in his armour,
Had switched off all systems that made any clamour.

When out in the swamp there arose such a clatter,
Ro’ sprang from his seat to see what was the matter.
Away to the ran, down to the hold,
Fearful of what he would soon now behold.

The moon on the crest of some new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below.
When, what to his wondering eyes should appear,
But a patrol of Maego drawing dangerously near.

With a long agile strides, so lively and quick,
Ro’ feared for a moment they’d uncovered his trick.
More rapid than eagles the small numbered team came,
And carrying some large cases. Now what is their game?

As quickly as they came they now set to work,
Placing their cases in the muck with a jerk.
Though they were still too far for Ro’ to clearly see,
There was only one object those things could now be.

Then, with a twinkling, he saw them aglow,
And in a growing diameter it started to snow
These things were Maego Tech, they sucked up the heat
From the air and the water and boggy warm peat.

The party was dress, as Ro’ could now see,
Unlike simple warriors he first took them to be.
Some carried the tools of Maego engineer,
While others, with staves weapons, stood ready and near.

The device, now a-hum with the accruing of power
The Techs started working on a transition tower.
With a slow drawn out breath, and a nod of his head
Ro’ surely now knew he had nothing to dread.

They spoke not a word, but went straight to their task,
And filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk.
And returning their tools to the packs on their back,
The group moved of down some hidden swamp track.

Ro’ sprang to the ground, and ran to the tower,
To find some smart way of stealing some power.
With their energy solved, the ship could take flight
"Happy Christmas to us. It’s been a good-night!"
