Timeline   A quiet moment
The door to the mess hall slid open with their characteristic rattling thump. May'Bel stepped in and looked around, doing a quick headcount and roll-call.

YIghegh, Cha'a', Ru'fimohp, and Iw'a'na. Four Klingons. No officers. No humans of questionable resilience. Excellent.

He walked into the middle of the room between the tables.

"ToH, tlhIH! Boovbogh ghoSbejpu'." [Alright, you lot. You all knew it was coming.]

The four Klingons looked at him, starting to tense up a little.

"Sogh jIneHmeH megh maSoppa' 'ej poH vIghajQo' choqaDmoHmeH. DaH Hoch tuqaDmoH." [I'm hoping to make Lieutenant by lunchtime, so I don't have time to fight you all one at a time. Let's just go all at once.]

The others blinked at him.

"BIchech'a'?"[Are you drunk?] Ru'fimohp demanded, incredulous. "BiQubbe'..."[You don't really think you can...]

With deadly speed, May'bel snatched the bottle of bloodwine off the table and smashed it over his head, cutting his sentence short.

There was an art to using a bottle as a club. It was possible to put a Klingon down with one via a well placed blow to the ear, but there was hardly much of a fight. May'Bel much preferred the slightly trickier feat of smashing it over a Klingon's forehead so the ruin of it spilled down into their eyes. Ru'fimohp wasn't out of the fight, but he'd be getting wine and glass shards out of his eyes for a good thirty seconds.

"Tuyu'a'?"[Any more questions?] May'Bel asked the room at large.

Iw'a'na was first off the mark, leaping up from his seat and charging at the younger warrior. He swung a heavy blow which May'Bel blocked with his forearm, then another which was parried with the other arm. Then the younger officer seized the older by the shoulders and butted him firmly in the face.

Iw'a'na was only stunned for a moment, but May'Bel followed up with a series of rapid fire punches to his midsection which sent him staggering back, and then a savage kick to the side of the leg which dropped him to one knee. In the moment as he regained his footing, May'Bel smoothly snatched up a stool and belted him firmly across the ear with it. He staggered sideways and then dropped.

One.

Cha'a' and YIghegh hadn't wasted the moments while May'Bel had been fighting Iw'a'na. May'Bel suddenly found himself on one knee, as Cha'a' planted her foot in the back of his leg. YIghegh took the opportunity to snatch the stool out of his hands, but before he could bring it around to use it as a weapon, May'Bel dropped to the ground and swept his leg around, taking the warrior's feet out from under him.

Seeing her ally fall, Cha'a' leapt towards the prone May'Bel - trying to bring her boot down on his head. He rolled to the side and instant before she landed, and then rolled back a moment after - grabbing her legs and jerking them to the side, sending her tumbling to the ground.

There was a frantic moment as all three prone combatants rolled clear of each other and got back to their feet.

Cha'a' was again the first to move, swinging a punch around in a wide arc. May'Bel blocked it, but this was exactly what she was counting on. She grabbed his arm firmly and pulled him sideways, jerking him off balance and moving him closer to YIghegh. He brought his other fist back to punch her head, but YIghegh was quick to pick up on Cha'a's intentions, and deftly caught May'Bel's other arm. The young warrior found himself caught by both arms and dragged over towards the tables, where a furious looking Ru'fimohp has just finished getting wine and broken glass out of his eyes.

The two other warriors held May'Bel as the burly klingon marine swung a punch into May'Bel's stomach. Then one into his face. And another - this one smearing blood across his knuckles. After another one to the stomach, he paused. Looking around at the sight of Iw'a'na's unconscious form, he smiled. He quickly went and retrieved the stool, brought it back to where the other two were holding their attacker, and swung it back for a knock-out blow.

Fortunately the moment's pause had given May'Bel just long enough to gather his wits. As Ru'fimohp began to swing the stool, he jerked his body forward and brought his boot up into the bigger warrior's privates. The large klingon groaned, dropping the stool and doubling over, at which point May'Bel kicked him on the top of his head, sending him crashing back into the table behind. Not giving the other two a chance to think, May'Bel hooked his leg into the dropped stool and swept it back into Cha'a's legs.

Momentarily entangled by the stool, her grip loosened for a moment on his arm as she tried to regain her footing, at which point May'Bel yanked it free of her grasp and swung it around to punch YIghegh in the side. Quickly regaining his footing, he brought the same arm back and struck Cha'a' in the face with his elbow as she tried to grab him again.

Close in, but having to think fast, May'Bel crouched down and swept his arm into the back of YIghegh's knees, taking his legs out from under him. The warrior fell hard, the back of his head his head slamming into the table as he fell. He landed unconscious.

Two.

Cha'a' had staggered back, still stumbling over the stool. As May'Bel attacked and brought down YIghegh, she snatched up the offending stool in frustration. As he turned to face her - still crouching - she lifted it over her head to club him. But he was faster than she anticipated. He surged forward from his crouch, looking for a moment like he was going to tackle her, but instead darting to the side and ducking past her. As she brought the stool down on the space he'd been a moment before, he dug his elbow into her kidneys - forcing her to drop the stool and half straighten up in agony. In that moment, May'Bel grabbed her by the hair and slammed her head down into the table.

She gasped in agony but didn't fall, so May'Bel slammed her down into the table again. And then a third time. Finally, she slumped to the ground.

Three.

May'Bel was caught on the side of the head by a punch that almost knocked him senseless. He staggered to the side - moving with the momentum - and managed to get into fight stance to defend himself against the new threat. It was a furious looking Ru'fimohp, May'Bel's dusty boot-print still visible on the top of his head.

The two faced off for a moment, and then May'Bel charged - but not towards Ru'fimohp. The other warrior looked in confusion for a moment as his opponent charged with a fierce battle cry towards the table a few feet away. Only as the the charging warrior placed one boot against the table and kicked off against it did he see May'Bel's intention.

Ru'fimohp raised his arms to fend off the flying warrior, only to have May'Bel catch one arm in each hand. May'Bel's knees drove into the larger warrior's chest with the full force of his weight, knocking him backward and down onto the table behind him - the spine-plate of Ru'fimohp's armour keeping the edge of the table from breaking his back. Kneeling on his chest, May'Bel managed to get a full three head blows in before a dazed Ru'fimohp rolled sideways and tipped him off.

The lighter warrior regained his feet before Ru'fimohp came out of the daze, and he swung a kick up into the other warrior's stomach. Coughing, the larger klingon rolled off the table into a clumsy, dazed crouch, at which point May'Bel planted another kick firmly in the side of his head.

He collapsed to the floor with a grunt and stopped moving.

Four.

May'Bel, dropping back into fight stance, looked around the room for other attackers. He was breathing heavily. As he realised the battle was won, he relaxed a little. Picking up one of the overturned stools, he sank down on it with an agonised grunt.

He gave a pained cough, and spat. It landed on the deck as a large gobbet of purple.

Ok. That was fun. But four was maybe pushing it. Human pirate rabble was one thing. But four real Klingons was another story.

He got to his feet painfully, and began collecting disruptors.

"Just borrowing these of course, cousins!" he told the unconscious warriors. "Back before you know it. I just need to show uncle Ro' I got them."

He straightened up with a grunt.

Then maybe off to see HIchop again. Oh, the life of an officer!
