Thor'nan walked into the mess hall, and grabbed some gagh and a couple of krada legs. He sat across from Marla, the two of them the only ones in the room.

"I have spoken with the HoD. He told me of an arrangement which will benefit your house, and mine. " he began.

Marla nodded. "What would that be?"

"He told me of your predicament. Your house is in danger; you need a male to rule, or you will lose it. Am I correct? " he asked.

Marla took a deep breath. She nodded.

"You have an option. I realize it may not be a pleasant one. But it's the only one available if you want to stabilize your house. I have a son. He is, like you, half human. His mother is Orion. But my father raised him in the Klingon way, as he did me. He will never lead the House of Mal'kor, and, as our commander has explained to me, I will never be allowed to rule the house, because I am not Klingon. If you were to take my son as a mate, he would technically be the head of your household. He's a fine boy; smart enough to know that you'll be the one leading and that he will just be a figurehead. The only obstacle is that he reaches the Age of Ascension next month. Consequently he will not be able to assume command at this time. But once the two of you are joined, he will be placed aboard FHew if Ro' approves. Between Ro', yourself, and me, we can prepare him for the role. While we do this, House Jare will temporarily be placed in the care of House Mal'kor, until Tierk is 'ready'. Like I said, as mistress, you will run the house through him. He's well trained; his actual role will be to protect you as you run the house. " said Thor'nan.

"He won't care that I am a half-breed?"

"My father raised a human, and two human Orion half breeds. He won't even see that you're half human yourself. And once you're part of his family, your enemies will become our enemies. If TorvaD tries to come after you again, Tierk is more than a match for him, and my father and his allies will defend your house as if they were defending their own. " said Thor'nan.

Marla nodded. She knew it was a good choice. More people on her side, and someone to help her run her house, and would protect her from any of the anti-humans. "I believe we can do that."

"Good. You will have the support of Ro', also. It was his idea. I will contact my wife and the two of you can make the arrangements. Once we arrive at Qo'nos, we'll perform the ceremony. How many warriors does your house have? Will there be any problems? "

"My house doesn't have many warriors. Just a few cousins. There is about 12 at the most. There shouldn't be any problem. They all loved my father, and would do anything for me."

"Good. Bear in mind; Tierk is young. I was young when he was born. There are many things I must teach him. And I'm not just talking about combat. " he said, a sly grin on his face. He was glad; not many Klingon women would accept a non Klingon as a husband. Marla would be a good addition to his house.

"I understand." She was a little wary still. She never thought she would get married, she thought her house would die, she also didn't know what it would be like to marry someone she barely knew.

"I know what you're thinking; you barely know him. If you like we could delay the ceremony for a while. You really only need to be betrothed. " he said.

Marla shook her head. "I'll get to know him sooner or later."

Thor'nan nodded.

"I'll call my father and tell him to begin preparing for our part in the plan. Everything will be ready when we reach Qo'nos. " he said.

Marla nodded.

"Think of it as atonement. Though I didn't know what he was planning for your house, I protected him while he planned it. That placed a stain on my honor. Now TorvaD is my enemy, as are those who would attack you. " said Thor'nan.

"Thank you."

"Qa'pla! " he said, standing. He downed his tankard of blood wine and left the room.

Marla shook her head. She had never thought that all these things would be happening at all. She was getting married, and was having more warriors on her side. Not only that, it seemed she would be making a new friend.
