Leah felt the moist warm air rush her as they ran down the ramp clattering that was loud enough but couldn't penetrate the night silence beyond. Once off the pad Leah felt her feet sink down an inch or so with a squishing sound, the marsh threatening to swallow anything that sunk into it. She glanced down to the small handheld viewer she carried with an illuminating red field light, yellow field grids and dots that represented their position.

"These warehouses are spread out a bit, seems there are pods of them all placed about a meter apart like a maze of cargo containers." She looked back at the viewer displaying each pod as a white rectangle in a maze of others just next to it.

"I always hated mazes."

Leah nodded "This will take us too long if try one at a time, We can search individual pods, but not to far from one another".

The deep croaking and gurgling background noises fell back a bit more as the sound of a very loud screech pierced the air. Leah's motion with a flashlight did little good in the dampness, filtering out only a few meters out but there was no sign of movement.

Marla smiled as her Klingon half came up with an idea, and her Human half put up no resistance. "I have an idea!"

Marla pulled a little something out of her pocket, and placed it on the wall of the first container. She pressed a few buttons, and started to quickly walk away.

"I would not be near there if I were you!" She yelled hoping that Leah, and anyone else around would hear her. After a few seconds there was an explosion in the spot where she placed the small charge, ripping a sizable section of wall away.

"If there is anyone here, they will most likely come running now."

She was right, just a few moments after the explosion she saw a Klingon come running, weapons drawn.

Marla pulled out her guns to be on the safe side, but held back her fire. "Are you the missing Klingon from house Matlh?"

JechwI' suddenly leapt to the side as the whine of solid munition shots pierced the air. The explosion had drawn not just their Klingon target, but also ground defence forces. Bullets ripped through the foliage around Leah, and Marla. The Marine with them stood and fired his disruptor rifle of in the general direction of the attackers, but without aiming.

The group was split. Leah, Marla, the Marine, and JechwI' all hid behind their own cover as bullets tore at the air and greenery and bounced of the metal housing of the containers.

Marla's half-breed mind was arguing with itself yet again. Her Human half just decided that maye it was not such a good idea to use an explosion to lure out the missing Klingon, and her Klingon half was excited that she decided to set off the explosion, because now she would have a battle. Marla pushed the argument out of her head. It was too late to argue now, and she needed to focus on the battle at hand.

Marla noticed that JechwI' was starting to fight back, but soon he saw them, and pointed his gun at them. Before he had the chance to shoot, she called out.

"mev! I am Marla of the House Matlh! I am here with Ro' Matlh to come looking for you, but first we need to get out of here."

JechwI' didn't fire, "VavloDnI'oy Ro' naDev'a'? YIpong! MaghoSnIS." [Uncle Ro's here? Call him! We need to get out.]

"Marla to the FHew, three to beam out, and hurry!"

,'. All teams to fall back to the LZ for immediate pickup. ,'.

Marla covered the group as they fell back. She hoped the FHew would pick them up soon, before it was too late.
