,',Yes St. Helene. What is it,',

,’,Could you come down to the cargo bay?,’, Marie was about to sign off then remembered yesterday’s contretemps and last night’s promise to behave better. ,’,Please.,’, she added.

A moments silence, then ,',I am on my way,',

“As you can see, I’ve tidied up the mess,” Marie began. “I think I know why it was so poorly done.” She held out a small package to the First Officer and opened it. In it was a collection of electrical components and circuitry. “I found this tucked away in an odd corner. I only found it because I am thorough. Tell me I’m paranoid if you like but I think the rest of this mess was created to divert my attention from that particular pile. Now, I’m no engineer but I’m guessing this is not standard Federation equipment and it doesn’t look Klingon either. Is it Romulan?”

Hay'Legh glanced through the components. "They are not Federation, and are too well engineered to be Klingon." She picked up one of the larger pieces and carefully studied it. "It does not seem to be of Rihannsu manufacture either." Hay'Legh dropped the piece back into the package. "It would be nice to know who this is destined for....Are you able to create some substitute pieces and then place this package back where you found it?"

“I doubt it. Anyone with any basic knowledge of electronics would be able to spot the difference. How about we show this to Ne’ Hope and see what she makes of it.”

"And Jared. Our Science Officer might have an idea of what these components could be or what they could be capable of creating." Hay'Legh frowned. "It was hidden away here in the hold for a reason..." She left the thought unfinished.

Marie considered that suggestion. Yes. This stuff might be ahead of us but...it might well be....well....She hauled back from the next thought. All of this means..... Marie couldn’t be sure what it meant at all. All she could hold to was that the fewer people knew about this....the better. Bringing in the Chief Engineer...well, that probably couldn’t be avoided. At some stage....at some stage the captain would have to be informed but.....

Marie St. Helene was the quartermaster; she would investigate this particular mystery.
